Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries has today announced $50,000 in NSW Government funding for sporting clubs around the Barwon Electorate.
Presenting funding to sports clubs in Gilgandra last week, Mr Humphries said the funding had been provided as part of the 2015/16 Local Sport Grant Program.
“A total of $50,000 has been awarded to 14 sporting clubs for a number of great projects,” Mr Humphries said.
“We have funding for everything from new rugby team uniforms, cricket kits, umpire coaching courses and installation of lighting on sports ovals.
“Because of this funding we will see new fences on the Walgett Showground cross country course, sun protection shades at the Dunedoo Bowling Club and junior tennis coaching sessions at Mendooran.”
Mr Humphries said the grants of between $1,000 and $7,000 would increase regular and on-going participation in sport and active recreation in NSW.
“Sport is a huge part of our way of life and the NSW Government recognises how important it is to our communities, for both social and health reasons.”
