Police attached to the Walgett Target Action Group have arrested and charged a 16yr old Lightning Ridge youth with 3 x Aggravated Break, Enter and Steal in company and Break, Enter and Steal from a number of mining claims and a residential premises in Lightning Ridge. The offences occurred between mid-October to mid-November. The youth was bailed refused to Walgett Children’s Court where he was again bail refused to reappear before the same court on the 28th of November 2017.
Police have also charged a 42yr old Walgett male with Break, Enter and Steal following an incident at a mining camp in mid-September. The male was bail refused by police and appeared before Walgett Local Court on the 16th of November where he pleaded guilty. He was released on conditional bail and will reappear before Lighting Ridge Local Court on the 29th of November for sentencing.
On the 15th of November Lightning Ridge Police have arrested and charged a 30yr old Lightning Ridge male with a string of serious traffic offences committed between the 12 to 14th of November. The male who at the time was already on bail for 8 similar serious traffic offences committed earlier in the month, was charged with a further 10 offences including Breach of Bail, Drive whilst disqualified x 2, Drive unregistered vehicle x 2, Use uninsured vehicle x 2, Police pursuit – not stop and drive recklessly, Drive Manner Dangerous and Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention. The male is already disqualified from driving from 2007 to 2043. This time the male has been bail refused and will reappear before Walgett Local Court on the 28th of November.
Castlereagh Detectives have arrested and charged a 35yr old Lightning Ridge male and his 24yr old female co-offender with Aggravated Break, Enter and commit serious indictable offence and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm in company following an incident at a Rainbow Street address on the 9th of November. Both offenders were refused bail by Police but subsequently granted conditional bail at court to reappear before Walgett Local Court on the 23rd of January 2018.
