Police arrested a 21 year old Lightning Ridge man on the 4th of December 2017 after it is alleged he attended his mothers address in Lightning Ridge with a commercially manufactured fire work. His family arrived home and an argument commenced. He attempted to light the fire work and his brother wrestled it from him. He left threatening to blow them up. Following his arrest he was conveyed to Lightning Ridge Police station and charged with Common Assault and Intimidate intend fear physical harm. He was released on conditional bail and will attend Lightning Ridge Local Court on the 14th of December 2017.
About 1.46am on the 2nd of December 2017 Lightning Ridge Police pulled over a white table top ute in Opal Street, Lightning Ridge. Police spoke with the 25 year old male driver and submitted him to a breath test which gave a positive result. He was placed under arrest and conveyed to Lightning Ridge Police station where he participated in a breath analysis. Following the analysis he was issued with a court attendance notice for driving with the middle range prescribed concentration of alcohol. He will appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on the 24th of January 2018.
A 55 year old male from Walgett was arrested by Lightning Ridge Police after he was pulled over for a breath test in Gem Street, Lightning Ridge. He was conveyed to Lightning Ridge Police station where he participated in a breath analysis. He was issued a court attendance notice for Driving with the Low Range Concentration of Alcohol and will attend Lightning Ridge Local Court on the 24th of January 2018.
On the 9th of December 2017 Lightning Ridge Police arrested a 45 year old male from Lightning Ridge following a number of incidents with his ex-partner in November and December 2017. He was charged with Use Carriage Service to Menace/Harrass/Offend, two counts of Intentionally Distribute Intimate Image without Consent and two counts of Threaten to Distribute Intimate Image without Consent. He was given conditional bail and will appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on the 24th of January 2018.
In January 2015, a house in Kaolin Street, Lightning Ridge was broken into and items stolen by unknown persons. Subsequent forensic examination of the place resulted in unknown fingerprints and palm prints being found. In October 2017, a local 18 year old male was arrested by Lighting Ridge Police for unrelated matter and fingerprinted. These fingerprints and palm prints matched the ones found at the Kaolin Street address in 2015. Police were notified and commenced further investigation. As a result, the accused was arrested again about 7:30 pm on Tuesday 28 November 2017 and charged with the break and enter offence. He was released on conditional bail to appear before Lighting Ridge Court on 14 December 2017.
About 9:50 am on Thursday 30 November 2017, a member of the public located a colour ladies purse on the footpath between Westpac Bank and the Post Office. This property was handed into the Lighting Ridge police and contained an amount of cash and personal card.
