About 2:50 pm on Thursday 17 August 2017, a 51 year old male was arrested at Lighting Ridge Bowling Club whilst being in breach of a domestic violence related AVO. Police will allege that the male was in company of his partner drinking alcohol clearly in breach of one of his AVO conditions. He was issued with a court attendance notice to appear before Lighting Ridge Local Court at a later date.
About 6:50 pm on Friday 18 August 2017, a 35 year old male was at an address in Butterfly Avenue, Lighting Ridge when it is alleged that he started arguing with his partner and then physically assaulted her. His partner was able to escape and call police who attended. A version was obtained from the female and the male was arrested. At the time of his arrest, the male violently resisted his arrest. He was conveyed to Lightning Ridge Police Station and charged with domestic related assault and intimidation and resisting police arrest. He was bail refused and conveyed to Corrective Services at Dubbo for a court appearance at a later date.
About 7:00 pm on Saturday 19 August 2017, an 18 year old intoxicated male was walking on Morilla Street, Lightning Ridge when he punched a vehicle window for no reason causing it to smash. The owner of the vehicle was inside the premises and saw the male near his vehicle and heard the smash. He went outside and detained the male and called police who attended. The male was arrested with cut injuries to his hand from punching the glass. He was charged with reckless damage and issued court attendance notice to appear before Lightning Ridge Court at a later date.
About 11:50 pm on Thursday 17 August 2017, a 27 year old female attended an address in Bokhara Street, Goodooga and started an argument with a number of residents. The argument escalated and it is alleged that the female punched a 25 year old female victim breaking her reading glasses in the process. A short while later, the offending female, punched another 18 year old female victim breaking a mobile phone in the process. Police attended from Lightning Ridge but the offending female could not be located. She was arrested about 10:00 am at Lightning Ridge Police Station and charged with reckless damage and common assault related charges to appear before Court at a later date.
