About 11:20pm on Friday 1st of September 2017, police attempted to stop a blue Holden Commodore travelling south on the Castlereagh Highway about 40klm south of Walgett. The vehicle refused to stop with a pursuit commencing and continuing to Coonamble. It appears the vehicle ran out of petrol, the occupants were removed from the vehicle and arrested. The 33 year old male driver was charged with a Police Pursuit under Skye’s Law, Fail to Stop, Never Licensed, Use Unregistered Vehicle, Use Uninsured Vehicle and False Plates x 2. The driver has been bail refused to appear at Moree Local Court.
Police will allege that two males engaged in a consented fight about 4pm Wednesday 30th August, 2017 in the middle of Wee Waa Street, Walgett. As a result of this fight, the two males aged 18 and 23 years old were arrested by Police and charged with Affray. Both males were bail refused by Police, however conditional bail has been provided by Walgett Local Court.
