About 12.30am on Tuesday the 12 September 2017 a 39 year old male from Walgett was arrested after he punched a hole in a door at an internal door at an address in Cedar Street, Walgett. Upon police arrival he resisted police attempts to arrest him picking up a scooter handle and throwing two chairs and a shock absorber at police. He picked up a screwdriver and threatened to ‘kill’ the police. Further police arrived and he was arrested and conveyed to Walgett Police station where he was charged with destroy or damage property, two counts of assault police, throw missile at police officer and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention. He was refused bail and will attend Walgett Local court on the 24 October 2017.
A 14 year old male from Goodooga was arrested by Walgett Police on Tuesday the 12 September 2017 after it is alleged he assaulted his girlfriend at an address in Richie Street, Walgett. She received grazes to her knees and palms. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and breaching his bail and was refused bail. He will attend Walgett Children’s Court for these matters.
About 3.20pm on Wednesday the 13 September 2017 a 22 year old female from Walgett was arrested by police in Arthur Street, Walgett, after it is alleged she assaulted her partner with an object at an address in Neilly Street, Walgett, causing two lacerations to his head. She was charged with reckless wounding and will attend Walgett Local Court on the 10 October 2017.
A 24 year old male from Walgett was arrested by Police on Thursday the 14 September 2017 following an incident on the 12 September where he assaulted his partner outside an address in Peel Street, Walgett. It is alleged he punched her and threw her to the ground a number of times. He was charged with Common Assault and will attend Walgett Local Court on the 9 October 2017.
About 8.45pm on Friday the 15 September 2017 a 13 year old female from Walgett was arrested at her home in Wee Waa Street, Walgett, after it is alleged she assaulted her cousin earlier that evening in Pitt Street, Walgett. As a result of the assault the victim had three cuts to her lip. She was charged with Affray and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and will attend Walgett Children’s court for these matters.
