About 2pm on Sunday the 3rd of December 2017 Walgett Police pulled over a Holden Commodore sedan which was travelling in an easterly direction along the Kamilaroi Highway, Walgett. The 34 year old female driver was spoken to and produced a Queensland Driver licence. Checks on the licence revealed that she was disqualified from driving in NSW. She was placed under arrest and conveyed to Walgett Police station where she was issued with a court attendance notice for drive motor vehicle during disqualification period. She will appear at Walgett Local court on the 12 December 2017.
A 19 year old male from Walgett was arrested on the 6th of December 2017 after he allegedly became involved in a physical fight with another male on Wee Waa Street, Walgett, and stabbed him in the throat with a broken bottle. He then stabbed himself in the chest area with the broken bottle. The victim suffered a wound under the chin and a wound on his throat. The 19 year old male was charged by Walgett Police with Wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was refused bail. He will appear at Walgett Local court on the 13th of February 2018.
About 12:35 am on Saturday 2 December 2017, police were waved down by a female victim while patrolling the CBD. The female victim alleged that a 51 year old male was in breach of his domestic related AVO in her house. Further investigation led to police locating the 51 year old male accused in the bedroom of the premises in an intoxicated state and being argumentative. This was in direct breach of his current AVO. He was arrested and charged at Walgett Police Station and bail refused. He appeared before Court later in the morning and released on conditional bail to attend Walgett Local Court on 12 December 2017.
About 7:35 pm on 2 December 2017, police stopped a vehicle being driven by a 25 year old female driver on Fox Street, Walgett for a random breath test. Inquiries revealed that the female driver was disqualified and she was issued with a court attendance notice to appear before Walgett Local Court on 9 January 2018.
About 2:00 pm on Sunday 3 December 2017, police stopped a vehicle along Kamilaroi Highway, Walgett being driven by a 34 year old female driver for the purpose of a random breath test. Inquiries revealed that the female driver was disqualified from driving for 22 years since 2007 until 2029. She had been declared a habitual offender by Court on many occasions. Inquiries also revealed that the female had appeared to have obtained a new NSW licence under false details. For these reasons, she was arrested, conveyed to Walgett Police Station and charged with relevant offences. She was released on bail to appear before Walgett Local Court on 12 December 2017.
