Sometime between Saturday 16 December and Sunday 17 December, a house at Montkeila Street, Walgett was the subject of a break and enter offence where many rooms were ransacked and an amount of cash and other personal property was stolen. After further investigation and forensic analyses of the house, police arrested a 31 year old Walgett male on Tuesday 19 December 2017. He was charged with Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence. He was bail refused to appear before Walgett Local Court on 13 February 2018.
About 5:00 am on Wednesday 20 December 2017, police attended an address in Walgett in relation to a reported domestic violence incident. At the scene, police saw two 15 year old brother and sister physically fighting. Police had to use capsicum spray to break up the fight as both were seriously intoxicated. Investigation revealed for the 15 year old male young person had assaulted his sister and caused damage to the house by breaking glass windows. He was arrested and conveyed to Walgett Police Station where he was charged with DV related assault and malicious damage and issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Walgett Children’s Court later.
About 11:40 pm on Friday 22 December 2017, police stopped a vehicle on Euroka Street, Walgett being driven by a 23 year old male driver. Subsequent checks revealed that the driver had an expired licence and he failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested and conveyed to Walgett police station where he underwent a breath analyses and returned a positive reading. He was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Walgett Local Court later and issued a fine for driving with an expired licence.
