3 weeks to wait! 3 weeks to go! 3 weeks until the Walgett Show! On the weekend of 13th and 14th May, Walgett Showground will not only be horsepower central with ring events, Showjumping and Walgett Show Campdraft but two- and four-wheel action, as well as an entertainment hub for the whole family!
What a line up it is! The Memphis Moovers will moove and groove, day and night, providing daytime entertainment, moovin’ balloonin’ and …..we hear, ukulele lessons as well as the Saturday evening entertainment at the bar. Base Zero Mobile Rockclimbing will be coming to the Show with their eight metre climbing wall. Up to four people can climb at once, so you can challenge your friends to a race up the wall, or just take on the wall at your own, fun pace. With popular returning attractions also confirmed, such as the Animal Farm, Bike Show, Ute Show, Quickshears, Yard Dog Trials, Tug-Of-War and maybe even a visit from Constable Charlie, there could be even more entertainment highlights revealed, so stay tuned!
Don’t forget to check out sideshow alley with its showbags, rides, games and other treats, the range of stallholders coming (something for all, including last-minute Mothers’ Day gifts), the trade displays and check on your entries (or those of family and friends) in the pavilion and livestock exhibits.
Pavilion sections include produce, flowers, needlework and dressmaking; knitting and crochet; cookery; handicrafts, patchwork and quilting; Aboriginal artifacts and painting; fine arts and photography. Children’s classes range from children’s decorative flowers; produce and children’s cookery to children’s handicrafts, sections in fine arts and photography and schoolwork (from preschool to secondary school).
Focus on Photography this year and enter the special photography sections including “Love Where We Live” where a local exhibitor showcases the Walgett Shire, such as farming, fossicking, fishing, mining, people, flora, rivers, businesses, a local scene, or community event, “ The Gate”, any picture of a gate, taken anywhere and “Beauty in the Bush”, depicting any aspect of rural Australia including, flora and fauna, people, the environment as well as the usual black and white and color classes.
There is something for all. Walgett Show offers sections, events and competitions including ring events, showjumping and sporting and campdraft; cattle; sheep; wool; children’s pets; dog sporting and dog judging and poultry There are children, adult and open classes to enter. Have a look at a schedule, there is a class for everyone. One entry more makes a better display. Please note that photography entries close at 5 PM on Wednesday 3rd May. Walgett Show Office at 47 Pitt Street will be open to receive entries.
