On the 25th June Walgett Rams and Lambs combined to host a great day at the Rugby. The Rams were at home to Coonamble. With the district saturated and spirits now driven by mud and not dust the decision to alter ladies day and move forward was rewarded. A big thank you must go to Sarah Wickman and Nancey Thwaites for the amazing food they supplied. Thank you to our lamb’s mums who supplied lovely cakes and sandwiches. Thank you to Pete and Erin McGrath for donating our Raffle prizes, Emily Howie and Sue Yeomans were the winners of these beautiful prizes. As usual a big thank you must go to our Hostesses Camilla Rowntree and Lucy Kerr. Both these ladies couldn’t even get out their roads on Friday but forged ahead with the organising. Due to the wet, cold weather most of our stalls decided not to join us on the day. The Tin Shed kept our ladies out of the mud and wind. Thank you to the ladies who help set up, sold tickets at the door and who just came to join us on the day. We had about 60 ladies through the door, which was great considering the muddy roads and other events on that weekend.
Our Junior Development Day was a huge success with 35 children attending. Gary Walsh from Tamworth travelled to give our kids some of the best coaching available. The development days not only teach the children but the coaches from the junior clubs are encouraged to be involved to learn new drills etc to pass on at training. Development day as also aimed at all children, not only registered players. This gives a safe and fun environment for kids to come and try rugby. All the children had a ball and many positive comments came from the junior parents. It was great to see juniors from other clubs such as Coonamble and Narrabri trekking out to Walgett to join our kids.
