WOW have the lambs been busy. Training has been getting attended well with the skills improving every week.
The Lambs had about 20 muster together joined by some of the new era of Bourke rugby to train and have a run around before the Walgett Nyngan clash. Ged Cullen and Liam Rice (Bourke) were absolutely stoked with the enthusiasm and the turn out. The Lambs hope to travel to Bourke when the Rams have their clash over there on 22 July.
On 14th May we had our new Carinda connection of Myles McLellan, Jack and Robert Burke travel to Gunnedah Gala day. Thanks boys for representing the lambs.
Walgett Rams Ladies Day saw a good roll up of lambs again. It was a tossup for some of the lambs if the Rugby or the mud was more enjoyable but either way it is awesome to see the kids having so much fun. The parents also enjoyed hanging around for the senior clash. Congratulations to the Rams players for organising a great ladies day.
Saturday 27th May saw Warren put on a last minute junior day to see the top of the table clash with Walgett. We had 5 lambs travel over. Greg Whitley put the older kids through some skills and then we joined the Mac Emus boys to take on Bourke. Thank you to Mac Emus for inviting us over and we hope to see them in Walgett on the 29th July.
Sunday the 28th May was the Narrabri Gala day. Walgett Joined Coonamble wherever we could to bring some Western Plains strength to the day.
In Under 6 and Under 8 we had some of our newest members attending their first Gala day. Dimity Loeve, George Woodham and even Big Rocky Loeve shared some of his skills in under 6 and in Under 8 Frankie Loeve, Jack Burke and Harry Woodham. Our little lambs braved the unknown, joined in with kids they have never met and had a great day.
Under 10 saw our new lamb Myles McLellan from Carinda Sam Yeomans, Cameron McLeod and Olly Rowntree join with Barraba to play some great football.
Our Under 12 Robert Burke, Jock Cullen and Charlie Yeomans joined with Coonamble to play some really hard rugby. The boys played well and gained momentum with every game.
Sunday 18th June saw the Coona Gala day. Great weather added to a great day for the Walgett Lambs and Western Plains Junior Rugby. Western Plains fielded teams in Under 6, 8 and 12. In Under 6 we blooded a few more new lambs with Will Brown, Joey and Maddie Hawke and Tess Yeomans having a fantastic time with the skills development and small games. Our Lambs joined with some of Mac Emus newest and youngest members.
Under 8 saw Frankie Loeve and Jack Burke join Coonamble and Mac Emus players to make up our Western Plains side. Frankie and Jack now been old hands helped the newer kids.
Under 10 saw Sam Yeomans. Noah Farr and Myles McLellan joined Coonamble, Mac Emus and Quirindi to get the numbers. The boys had 4 hard fought games. Thanks to Quirindi again helping us out with numbers.
Under 12 saw Gilbert Thwaites, Charlie McGrath, Dylan Farr, Campbell Morris and Charlie and Pete Yeomans join Coonamble and Mac Emus to again form a Western Plains team. The boys passion (and their dads) was overwhelming. They left everything and some on that field in Coona. The ref ran over to the parents at the conclusion to the first game and commended the boys on their game and would love to see them after getting some game time together. So would we, we are trying.
Looking forward the 2 biggest dates coming up are 29th July when Walgett Lambs host a family day at the Rugby.
